You cannot increase the amount of device storage on an iPhone. Whatever the iPhone had when it rolled off the assembly line at the factory, is what it will have for the rest of its life.

You can rent additional iCloud storage, on Apple's servers, for backups and synchronization. When you back up data, or synchronize data, it takes up space both on your phone and in iCloud. There is one special case: if you are using iCloud Photos, you can give your phone permission to "Optimize iPhone Storage".

Sorry but System Storage on iPhone cannot be increased and is set right when you purchase the iPhone. Considering the iPhone 8 is fairly outdated, the storage options back then (64, 128, 256 GB) are fairly small compared to the options today (Going up to 1 TB) and can be inadequate for today's content. As a result you'll need to purchase a newer iPhone with more storage.

There are several ways:

  1. Buy more iCloud storage. Apple offers plans starting from 50GB to 2TB.
  2. Use an external hard drive. Move large files from your iPhone to the drive.  After moving files to the drive, you can delete them from your iPhone to free up space.
  3. Use tools like Cisdem Duplicate Finder to delete duplicate photos, videos, and similar images in the Photos app on your iPhone. Photos and videos often take up the most storage.
