How to restore Wi-Fi pop-up window on iPhone running iOS 18.4.1?

IPhone, IOS 18.4.1

I visit an office a few times a week that has a "guest" wifi account. When I choose the network in "WI-Fi" under settings, in the past, a browser window would pop up, I would answer a question, then access would be granted and wifi would work ok. 2 or 3 weeks ago, after choosing the proper network, the browser window no longer pops up. Wifi connects to the network, but no internet access exists.

I am using chrome as default browser. But, I changed to safari with no change in result. I also cleared browsing history data with no change in result.

I am certain that something has changed on my iphone and not the network, because someone I am with tried the same thing and it works on her iphone like it always has. So not the network, my iphone has changed. I don't recall making a change, but who knows....

Help!

Regards

Chuck

Hi Chuck,

Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the ⓘ next to that Wi-Fi network and choose to forget it. Then let the list of Wi-Fi networks refresh and pick the office network again. This should clear the settings of that Wi-Fi network and make it work correctly again.

If the issue persists, reset all network settings in Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

If this happens with just one captive network it is a problem with the network, not your iPhone

Other things to try:

If you use VPN delete the VPN profile, don’t just turn it off.

Go to Settings/Wi-Fi find the network and FORGET it.

You can also reset network settings:

  • Open Settings
    • Tap General
    • Tap Transfer or Reset Phone
    • Tap  Reset
    • Tap Reset Network Settings

    • This will erase all Wi-Fi passwords, but will not result in any other data loss.
