App not downloading from macOS app store

On Reddit, several users had this sort of problem, particularly with Accessibility Software creating layers over the macOS user interface.

eg I use an accessibility software to make my mouse pointer much more obvious. This creates a layer over the screen.

• With it on:
  • while pointing at the App Store window, "Install" or authentication is NOT visible.
  • while NOT pointing at the App Store window, the "Install" and authentication is visible.
  • 
    
• With it OFF:
  • while pointing at the App Store window, the "Install" or authentication is visible and all works normally.

So, my work-around is to turn OFF my Accessibilty software.

Now, what's wrong? Should the App Store ask me for a password at that stage? If so, why doesn't it? (Is this called re-authenticating?)
