iPhone 13 Pro screen went white but still works through mirroring

Hi, This morning (June 13) while I was watching a TikTok video, my iPhone 13 Pro screen suddenly went completely white. The phone still works. I can hear notifications, sounds, and even phone calls. Touch is working too. I managed to unlock it by tapping based on feel and now I’m using it through macOS 15 screen mirroring.

It’s running iOS 18.5 which I installed in May 13. I’ve tried force restarting and even shut it down for an hour but the white screen didn’t go away. There hasn’t been any drop, water damage, or anything like that. It just happened during normal use.

I reached out to Apple Support and they said I’d need to pay first for repair and only after that they might refund me if it’s a hardware issue. I’m a bit stuck since I can’t afford that upfront right now.

Has anyone else had something like this happen

Thanks

if it was me then I would

try restarting the ios device Force restart iPhone - Apple Support and check if it resolved it if it did not

then I would try Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support - if that did not resolve it

then I would contact apple about repair iPhone Repair and Service - Apple Support or Contact - Official Apple Support

to me it sounds like a defect lcd to an extend where the rest of the system is not even aware anything is amiss

Forgot to mention earlier, the screen first turned white while watching a TikTok video. After putting it to sleep for a few seconds, it went back to normal. But later, while watching a video on the Facebook app, it turned white again and stayed that way. It only happened during video playback, so I think that might have triggered it.

Just wanted to share a quick update. Back on iOS 17, I noticed some screen flickering during unlock, but it stopped on its own. On iOS 18.4, I saw a brief flash of white and pink when opening the Camera app, that went away after a restart. Now on iOS 18.5, the screen turned completely white while watching videos and hasn’t recovered since.

For comparison, my old iPhone 7 Plus from 2016 is still running iOS 15 with no display issues. It’s a bit frustrating that the newer device is running into display problems across recent updates.

I’m starting to think this could be tied to system-level features like ProMotion, HDR rendering, the camera system, or how video playback is handled in apps. Feels like something deeper in iOS is getting triggered.
