What you would NOT ever want to do at this point, is try to retrieve the phone yourself based on any location that you might see.

Realistically, if you have not heard anything for 5-7 days or so, unfortunately it is time to accept the fact that the phone is gone.

If you, or your Mom, get a call from someone who clams that they want to reunite you with your phone, but who asks you to

• Supply your passcode
• Supply your Apple ID and Apple ID password
• Remove the device from your Apple account

hang up! Even if they claim to be from "Apple" or the "Police".

If you get a call from a stranger who seems to want to return the phone, it might be best to have them turn it in at a police station for you to pick up later. Do not arrange a meeting at a place that would be a mugger's dream.
