How can I remove Activation Lock from my MacBook Pro?

Hello, I am looking to sell my MacBook Pro which was previously a lease device, I can see in hardware settings that activation lock is enabled although the lease company wiped the device, I assume no trade in companies will be willing to buy a device which is activation locked, is there a way to remove this please?

It may be more accurate to say only the actual owner of the device as recognized by Apple is able to remove any locks.

Typically Apple will only recognize the original (aka "first") owner of the device unless it is purchased as a refurbished unit directly from Apple.

Why are you trying to sell a product you don’t own? If you were leasing the MacBook why wasn’t it returned to the leasing company after the lease expired? Why do you consider it yours now? Is there something you’re not telling us about the ownership of this MacBook?
