iPhone 14 Pro overheating and shattered back glass without a drop

I purchased a iPhone 14 pro for my husband and year ago and he was noticing it has been getting very hot like he told me to feel it and it was like touching a hot pan and then sometimes it charges and other times it wont charge. He noticed today his whole back of phone is now shattered.

Has anyone else had this issue he has not even dropped it and can not figure out how it would

of shattered.

Is this a know defect with the iPhone 14 as I have noticed a lot about phone bulging and others saying they have dropped it from little height and if so why have apple not done anything about this as this seems dangerous getting that hot and now shattering
