iphone 16 plus front camera bad quality

When taking a selfie it's worse quality than the camera at the checkout at a grocery shop. It's dark, deep shadows, terrible colour and distorted.

I've tried suggestions I found online with the undertones and turning options on&off, but nothing works. Compared to my six-year-old android phone, the iPhone 16 plus camera is really awful, and the phone itself seems very over-complicated.

I just bought this phone but seriously considering returning it, as I need to take these kind of pics every week for promotional social media content.

Up to you. This is a user to user support forum and Apple does not participate here. If the iPhone does not meet your needs, then purchase a device that will. If you purchased the phone from Apple, you have 14 days to return it no questions asked. If you purchased it from somewhere else, check with them on their return policy.

Assuming you purchased the iPhone new in a factory sealed box directly from Apple or an Authorized Apple Retailer, you must make this decision within fourteen days of the original purchase date.

The camera works, it's just that the quality of the front camera is frustratingly bad, and I'm looking for any way to improve it. I made assumptions about what the front camera quality would be when I bought the phone, which is my own fault.

I bought it direct from Apple. I think it's only 7 days to return, but I'm still well within that range.
