I have an iPod classic 160 GB which I play with a Bose dock. I know; kicking' it old skool. I just bought a new cable but I am unsure what kind of charger I need. I have an Apple 12 W USB Power Adapter. Model A2167. Will that work? Thanks.

Your iPod classic has a 30-pin dock connector - and was supplied with a USB cable (USB Type-A to 30-pin dock connector). The Apple 12W Power Adapter should work with your iPod.
If for some reason the Power Adapter fails to charge the iPad, no harm will come to the iPod.
it should as long as the volt is not higher than 5volt DC
then it will work, there is no max watt and no chargers will harm the battery unless it's higher volts than 5
