I dropped my iphone 15 in a tub
with water. It worked afterwards until it died and not taking a charge some 8 hours later

Water damage is not repairable, you will need to purchase a new phone.
All smartphones, including iPhones, are water-resistant NOT waterproof. Unless you have AppleCare+ that covers accidental damage you will have to buy a new iPhone.
