Face ID not working after repair – how to use Repair Assistant?

Hi everyone!

I have an iPhone 11, recently replaced a part, and now Face ID stopped working.

I updated to iOS 18 and I heard about the Repair Assistant, but I’m not sure how to use it or where to find it.

Can anyone help me with step-by-step instructions? Thanks a lot!

iPhone 11, iOS 18

Did you actually replace a part? Did you do it with Apple's Self Service? What part did you replace? The Repair Assistant that you are referring to is about after part replacement, but I don't think it is for individuals that replaced a part. Here is the support document. Use Repair Assistant to finish an iPhone or iPad repair - Apple Support

If you replaced a part in the phone on your own with a 3rd party part and it is not something that Apple allows as part of their Self Service, then they will no longer service the device and the Repair Assistant may not help you.

Said as simply as possible:

If anyone other than Apple or an actual Apple Authorized Service Provider replaced the screen on your phone, including you as the person who replaced the screen, there is nothing we nor Apple can do to help you. Apple won't touch a phone which has been tampered with.

And if you have an unauthentic screen on your phone, it will have no trade value with Apple. You'd have to divulge to any potential buyer the phone was tampered with and features such as Face ID will never work on the phone again, greatly reducing any value the phone might have had.
