iPhone 7 Plus touch screen only work when hot or charged

The touchscreen is failing. At some point.....probably sooner rather than later.....the screen won't work at all.

It's going to take $275-300 to get things working again, including a new battery, but this assumes that parts are still available for the phone.

The Apple Store / Genius Bar can handle this for you, or an authorized shop can as well....if you decide to go for repairs....and parts are still available.

But, fewer and fewer apps will run on the old iOS 15 version to which the phone is locked, so the money might be better spent towards a new phone.

Sounds like a bad aftermarket battery. Ampsentrix or OEM batteries shouldn't cause a phone to overheat. Try to stay away from Amazon repair kits or similar. Low quality aftermarket screens can also cause issues.

Who changed the battery?

Sounds like whoever did it seriously borked the job.

If it wasn't done by Apple or an authorized service provider, go buy a new phone and toss that one in the recycle bin.

It's no longer safe to use.
