Super Drive not working with Sequoia

My Apple Super Drive is not working on my new Mac Studio M4 under Sequoia 15.5.. Apple Support couldn't give any help. It seems, that it is not possible to burn a CD or import a CD under Sequoia 15.5.. I'm a musician and use the device very often. Does anyone know something about it? Is Apple planing a update to solve this problem? I'm sure not to be the only one with this problem!

I can confirm that neither Sequoia 15.5 nor the M4 chip are an issue, since my SuperDrive works fine with my M4 Pro MBP running the current MacOS.

I will say that I initially saw the behavior you describe – the drive made a soft 'park' noise when I initially connected it but then the drive would not pull in a disc. But I was multitasking and swiping between desktops, and I had missed the usual popup asking to allow an accessory to connect. I clicked yes, then the SuperDrive worked as usual. It's connected with one of the inexpensive dongles mentioned by Owl-53 (a nonda adapter from Amazon).

Perfectly on a older system…

My SuperDrive works fine on my M1 Studios Max. I have heard reports that early models sometimes don’t work. Point is Apple no longer sells the SuperDrive and it may be time for you switch to a third party CD/DVD burner. I have a Samsung burner that works. You might take a look at OWC (macsales) offerings.

The disc becomes not even pulled into the drive, no matter if a empty or written disc, nothing happens, like there would not be enough power for it. The finder settings are all correctly, already prooved with apple direct support. Thanks once more! The drive works perfectly with a older system.

Could be a lack of power from the USB-A connector of the Studio

To share if you please

Using a 2010 Lacie USB Powered CD/ DVD +RW connected with the suggested Adaptor

This is on a M4 Mac Mini with only USB-C female connectors

If I try to connect to the USB-C contours on the Face of the Mini

I will often get a Warning from the OS that the DVD drive is drawing too much power

Have to connect to the Rear USB-C connectors

How exactly is the Super Drive connected to the Mac Studio ?

What adapter is used from the USB - A ( Male ) connecters to the USB - C ( Female ) connectors on the computer ?

What happens when you place a Blank CD / DVD in the Super Drive ?

I find a cheap adapter like this one works just fine on a 2010 Lacie DVD +RW Portal work just fine on a M4 Desktop with Sequoia 15.5

The pop up my colleague mentioned, would only appear if it were an Apple Laptop
