M1 Macbook Pro Not Charging with 3rd Party 45w PD, Original Magsafe Cable

I can't get this 3rd party 45w PD charger to work with this M1 Pro. It's Jackson brand, and it can charge literally everything else I throw at it. It works with every Android phone I've tried, and provides fast charging up to 45w, or lower if that's all the phone supports. It charges my fitness band, Nintendo Switch, Anker battery bank, iPhones, headphones, mouse...

It's literally just this Mac that will not accept it, and I have tried resetting the SMC already.

I'm using the original MagSafe cable that came with the Mac. The original Mac charging brick works fine, battery condition is "normal" with max capacity at 90%

It does provide power, the Mac states that it is using it as a power source, but it just won't charge. It's so frustrating that such an expensive device has issues like this.

Jackson GaN Rapid Charger, USB C, 45w

Is there anything else I can try?

suggest that the macbook pro comes with a

61W USB-C Power Adapter

the way charging works if that the macbook will attempt to draw as much current as it was made to charge by

if one connects a charger which can't provide the amount of amps that the device you wish to charge requires

the charger will begin to lower the volts, when the volts get under a level set by the charging system in the mac charging will stop.

watt = Volts * Amps

I can charge the same M1 pro using a 33w USB A charger. (Into the USB C port on the Mac) Yeah it's slow as **** but it definitely works.

I've seen someone charge an M2 with a 20w brick. I've charged a 16 inch M1 with a 45w laptop charger at work, and it wasn't slow at all.

I just did some quick googling and found many examples of people charging MacBooks with 45w and under.

So I'm pressing X to doubt. Something isn't working as it should here.

This is very frustrating. Same thing here. I used to charge my MacBook Air at work using an original HP laptop charger which has an USB-C connector. It is a 65W charger, lean, high quality, and it came with a premium HP laptop that I had. For years it worked without a flaw -- now, in mid 2025, my MacBook Air M1 is not recognizing it. Everything else charges just fine: iPhone 16, AirPods Pro, Android Phones... *only* the MacBook Air M1 has this issue. I have tried another good branded charger (Baseus 65w charger) and three different cables, and it does not work. However, any cable connected to a workmate's original Apple MacBook charger works instantly.

This is very irritating. Obviously the original HP and the Baseus 65W chargers are working. The MacBook Air M1 is just rejecting them. I don't know what is going on -- I suspect software, but I restarted the Mac and it does not help.

I charged my Macbook Aid beyond 50% battery with a friend's original charger. Now sometimes, just sometimes, I take out and plug back the HP charger, and it will be accepted... and sometimes it will say "Power source: Power Adapter" and "Battery Is not charging" (what?), other times it will charge. Then I remove and plug again and it doesn't get recognized... very erratic.

Anyone knows what is going on? Is Apple after all these years messing with 3rd non-apple chargers?
