Several apps keep asking for permissions on the iPhone and complications disappear from the Apple Watch

For the last week or so, I’ve been having several issues that seem to be connected to each other somehow.

First of all, the Weather and the Calendar apps on my iPhone 16 pro keep asking for permission to use location services, several times a day. I’ve tried to go into the settings and manually give them permission to use location services all the time, or when the app or widget is used, but this keeps resetting to ”ask”. Also, messages keep asking me for permission to share information about my focus to other users at least once a day.

At the same time, the complications for weather and calendar disappear from my Apple Watch. Sometimes giving them permission to use location services makes them magically reappear, but sometimes this doesn’t work. They’re suddenly just not there and I can’t select them.

I’m using iOS 18.5 and watchOS 11.5. The problems didn’t appear in connection to any update, they simply appeared a random day last week.

Go to Settings/Privacy & Security/Location Services. Tap on Calendar, then While Using the App. If it’s already checked, tap on Never, then While Using App again.

Do the same for Weather, but you have more choices there. The best answer is Always if you want the app to keep up-to-date and also to notify you of weather alerts.

I’ve already tried this on several occasions. It just goes back to ”ask”. Last time Calendar wasn’t even an option in the security settings. I had to open the app and pick ”while using” for it to appear in the system settings. And now I’ve lost it again. So no, that doesn’t work.

I’ve also tried turning off location services completely and turning them back on. Still no change.

I’m having the same issue (specifically the Weather app and Maps) and also my Watch won’t display messages older than 1 day now. Maybe there is a but in the latest update? Seems odd that it would randomly happen to so many people.

Edit: I noticed that Messages app closes right before the permission popup appears, even mid typing. This happened twice in one hour.

I am having the same issues on my 15pro iOS 18.5. I am regularly asked for permission for use of location, multiple times a day. Also watch face is missing certain weather complications because location constantly needs permission given. This all started when I took a flight and placed my phone in flight mode. Has been happening ever since for about two weeks now. Clearly there is a bug somewhere as there is numerous threads regarding this issue over the years. Looking for serious experienced suggestions on a fix here. Lots of previous threads have little success other than some where it magically disappears or resetting watch and repairing. However multiples have tried the same with no success. What’s the issue apple, get it sorted.

Same! It is very annoying. I tried resetting all the permissions through the reset menu, it did not help.
