Do I need Apple Music to access non-purchased songs via Home Sharing on Apple TV?

I recently got a new iPhone + plan, and passed on Apple Music, which was included with the last plan. have Home Sharing on both the TV and iMac set up, same library name, network and apple account sign i. I can access the library when I use the computer app on the TV but not the iTunes app. Do I need an Apple Music subscription to access non-purchased songs? The only songs shown right now are purchased ones.

No, you don't need a subscription to access your non-purchased songs on the Computers App over Home Sharing.

Home Sharing does not share the library to the Music app though.

If you want to see your Library in the Music App, then yes, a subscription to the Apple Music service or iTunes Match is required.
