AirPod Max - connecting to devices but no sound is available

As stated above - I can connect the AirPods Max to my apple devices but they don't play any sound / audio.

I have tried resetting them multiple times. Nothing is working.

I see that many others are also having this issue and it appears unresolved.

Apple closed the ticket without resolving it.

Given the price point of these headphones - I think we can expect some follow up on this ongoing issue.
