Is this legit or scam text message

I received a text message this morning that I'm unsure about—it looks like it could be a scam. Instead of calling the number provided in the text, I went directly to Apple's official website to find their tech support contact information. I noticed that the phone number listed on Apple's website for technical support is different from the one in the text message.

I wanted to see if anyone else has received a similar text. I'm trying to determine if this is a legitimate message or a potential phishing attempt.

Here is the text read below:

"Unverified Apple Pay Usage,

We noticed some unusual activity on your Apple ID (Case

ID:6*******8) account and want to ensure your information remains safe.

Details of the activity:

Transaction: $215.45 at

"Electronic Hub USA"

Date/Time: July 23, 2025, at

10:47 AM (PST)

Device: iPhone 14 Pro, used in San Diego, CA

If you recognize this transaction, no action is need

If this activity is familiar, no action is required, and the transaction will proceed within 24 hours. If not, contact Apple Support immediately at +1-8*******79 for assistance.

Sounds like a scam.

If you ever think a message like this might be about a legitimate issue, contact Apple or your credit card issuer using known good contact information not from the message. Always assume that numbers, links, etc. in such messages will connect you to scammers.

Omg I just got the EXACT SAME TEXT MESSAGE!!! Down to the dollar amount! Ok so that answers my question- def A SCAMMER!!!

You're welcome.

In the future, never post scammer phone numbers anywhere online. Bots pick these up. And when associated often enough with lines like https:// getsupport.apple.com/, search results start to offer those numbers up as legitimate.

I got the same message, sure wish Apple actually had a chat session we all could verify that it is actually a scam pretending to be with Apple. I also thought that it was a scam, somebody poising as Apple security....darn scammers, get a real job instead of stealing

That in and of itself is a problem. A magazine I read had almost an entire issue on scams and how to avoid them. Knowing that many of them come from overseas, he visited one such country to interview the scammers.

They actually didn't mind talking to him because the police get a cut of whatever they steal. They have no fear of being arrested.

But the kicker is, he asked more than a few why they steal from innocent people, and the answer was always the same - "I need to make an honest living to feed my family."

Yes. Seriously. They think what they're doing isn't a crime, even when the question is "Why do you steal?"
