How to restore missing app icons on iPhone 11 after restarting?

My phone restarted multiple times and now the icons for most apps have disappeared. I can still access the apps, but the name and picture for most apps have now disappeared. I have a lot of storage that I’ve tried to remove but with no luck. I cannot update my phone because of this. How do I get the icons back?

Hi.

Sounds like your iPhone’s having a glitch with the home screen or app icons.

Try these:

• Go to Settings, find the app in iPhone Storage, offload it then reinstall. This refreshes the icon without deleting your data.

• Reset your home screen layout in Settings > General > Reset. It restores icons to default and might fix missing ones.

• Make sure your iOS is updated as updates often fix bugs like this.

If nothing works, backing up and restoring your iPhone from a computer can fix deeper issues.

I notice you are on iOS 16. First off, the app icons not loading should not prevent you from updating your iPhone. You mentioned storage, are you low on that? That can prevent updating, so first clear out any apps and other content you don’t need to allow you to update to the latest iOS 18.5. Because you are running an iOS version from over 2 years ago there certainly be a myriad of issues present.
