iPhone 12, the voice speaker stopped working after the update

On my iPhone 12, the voice speaker stopped working after the update. The loudspeaker is working, but the earpiece speaker isn’t. The same issue happened earlier as well, and back then the company took responsibility.

But this time, they’re not accepting it as their fault and are saying I’ll have to get it repaired at my own cost. They told me the speaker is attached to the screen, so the entire screen would need to be replaced — costing around ₹29,000, which is more than the current value of the phone.

My phone was just about to complete 5 years, and before that, this update ruined it.

Was this done intentionally?

As WheelieNick told you, this is not a software issue. And nothing was done intentionally to your iPhone. Technically speaking, the iPhone 12 is an old phone. Things happen or stop working over time on old devices. Your phone is well out of warranty. Your options are to pay for the repair or buy a new iPhone.

Abhisheksinghshakya ~ Your iPhone 12 could be nearly 5 years old and the long process of applying an iOS update to an iPhone with a weak, aging battery can be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back." So...

Does your iPhone 12 still have its original battery?

And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...

This isn’t the first time my iPhone 12’s earpiece speaker stopped working after an update. It happened earlier too, and Apple had accepted responsibility and fixed it for free.

Now again, after updating at night, the issue started by morning. My phone hasn’t fallen or been exposed to water — I swear. It’s clearly due to the update, and Apple knows it.

I understand that it might not be intentional, but it's strange that the exact same issue happened twice — both times right after an update. Apple had accepted responsibility earlier, so why not now? My phone was working perfectly before the update. I didn’t drop it, it didn’t get wet — just updated it overnight, and the earpiece stopped working by morning.

It’s hard not to question this pattern. And asking ₹29K for a phone that’s not even worth that much anymore? That’s not fair.
