iPhone 16 Pro battery and connectivity issues after upgrade from iPhone 13 Pro Max

I upgraded from an iPhone 13 Pro Max to an iPhone 16 in May 2025. The new iPhone 16 has never worked properly. I have stayed on the phone for hours troubleshooting with Apple and AT&T, no trouble found in the network. After 30 days of garbled conversations, speaker not working, slow response from apps, phone switching from car speakers while driving, speaker changing to phone instead of speaker, phone hot to the touch, Apple replaced the 16 with another 16 which is another lemon. I have to reboot every night and sometimes twice a day. Also, the battery life is very short, I am a senior and use my phone mostly for talk and text. Any suggestions?

It's extremely unlikely that two devices would fail in the same way.

It's much more likely that there is a software related problem, possibly brought over when transferring data from an older phone to a new one and now embedded in the backup.

I don't suppose someone at AT&T transferred the data from whatever you had before you purchased the iPhone 16?

Best troubleshooting advice at this point would be to erase the device and set it up as new. You can sync your data with iCloud, but do NOT restore your backup. If the problem persists after doing that, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store.
