Potential fraudulent charge notification from Apple

They said someone charged $215.45 and Electronic Hub USA in CA and to call 877*******. Is this a scam? If this was for real, how would Apple contact me to tell me?

I just got some crud this morning via text! Stating they noticed some "unusual activity" on my Apple ID account and want to ensure my information is safe.

Details of the transaction: $215.45 at "Electric Hub USA" on August 29th @ 10:47 AM with an iPhone 14 Pro (which I do not have), used in San Diego, CA.

If this was unfamiliar activity, I need to do nothing, however, if not, to contact Apple Support immediately at +1-*******2.

Sooooo, I googled "Apple Support" and the number for customer service didn't match what I was sent in the text above.

I got a bit angry, because my dang debit card just got hacked again and so it was shut off and a new one is on it's way. Thought this was "scammy" sounding, but with the hackers out there, who knows anymore what's actually true and what's not! They wouldn't get much of anything from me since the card associated with my Apple ID has been shut off.

Hope this helps someone else out!!

What credit card do you use for your Apple account?

Did you log on to your credit card site to see if a matching charge appears there?

If it doesn't, then you know that the message that you saw was a scam.

Even if the message or email appears to be legitimate, never call the number listed in a message or click on a link in a message like this.

Always check independently.

I received the same text, same amount of money. It adds the purchase was attempted at "Electronic Hob USA." Of particular notice is the phone umber has the country code 63, which is the Philippians. I've received a number of scams from the Philippians this year; it must be the new Kenya. I've also had legitimate calls and texts from credit card companies about purchases made in the Philippians, so watch out for the new leading Scam-Scum Country.
