You used to be able to just hit a button on your phone/Mac under iCloud -> user -> passwords etc.
Now it appears to have disappeared somewhere. How do you manually request a code now for devices that haven't been updated to understand the verification process?
To manually request a verification code on your Apple device:
This option is still available on most iPhones and Macs, though the menu name may vary slightly depending on the iOS/macOS version.
If you’re using an older device that can’t receive verification codes automatically (e.g. for signing in to iCloud), you can generate the code manually using any trusted device signed into the same Apple ID.
If the Get Verification Code option is missing, double-check that the device is still marked as trusted and signed into iCloud. Otherwise, sign out and back into iCloud to re-enable it.

Nope.
Get Verification Code does not appear in Sign-In 7 Security for me. The phone is trusted.
I even did the sign-out and sign back in... No change.
However after all that on my laptop has appeared a 'Get verification Code' under Two factor Authentication. This is missing from the iPhone.
It's just a pity that the code from the MBP doesn't appear to work... sigh... Maybe the timeout is just too short. The AppleTV doesn't support a fast login option...
FYI, your device is what always generates the codes.
