Wi-Fi Calling is not working on my iPhone running iOS 18.6

Since 18.3 WiFi Calling was off and on. Now with 18.5 and 18.6 WiFi calling is dead! I went to Reddit and checked also, people are complaining they have the same issue. We live in a remote area and no one has service here, so we rely on wifi calling. Never had an issue until 18.3.

  • Make sure you are not using a VPN. You will need to do more than just shut it off, it may need removed.
  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will also remove WiFi passwords, so you will have to enter the password again the first time you log into your WiFi.
  • Try another WiFi network. Not all will support WiFi calling and some block the specific ports needed for WiFi calling. If you are able to use it on another WiFi network, then you will need to look more closely at your Router setup.
  • And finally, contact your cell provider. WiFi calling is a cellular feature and they have the ultimate control over the service and what devices are allowed to use the feature. Some don't allow it at all and others limit it to the single provisioned device, and some will allow it on other iCloud connected devices.

As stated, NOTHING has changed with device, carrier, WiFi provider- the ONLY change has been the iOS upgrades

Seems the blame game works both ways

Believe what you want to believe. I am sure more people know about Wifi calling then you are giving credit to. It's been a useful feature for a long time now. And when a carrier feature stops working, it's up the carriers to determine why and fix it. Wifi calling is working just fine on my iPhone running iOS 18.6.1. My carrier is AT&T.

Have you checked to see if you have a carrier update --> Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (CA). Typically, when iOS updates roll out, carriers often need to update as well. Do you use a VPN on your iPhone? VPNs almost always cause connectivity issues and are simply not needed on iPhone. Finally, after the iOS update, did you Force Restart your iPhone? I perform this procedure on my devices after every iOS update --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

If you are still convinced this is an Apple created issue, then contact Apple directly for help. This is a user to user only forum. No one here works for Apple.

As the original poster said … this is not a network provider issue as WiFi calling was functioning perfectly with the device and carrier prior to the iOS updates

I also live in an area which makes me totally dependent on WiFi calling and have the exact same issue (as do many others) since these updates. I have carried out every reset function and toggle available with no effect. I am not using VPN. Nothing has changed except the iOS updates

The carrier have said there is nothing they can do and Apple need to resolve the issue, and it appears Apple are blaming the carriers …. None of this is helping me and the other users who are now without communication 🤬🤬

Welcome to the blame game. A common tactic by carriers. If the update caused Wifi calling to stop working, it would have stopped it for everyone and this forum would be literally flooded with people complaining. Yet, it's NOT. The simple fact is that Wifi Calling is a carrier provided feature. Apple doesn't deliver the service. Your carrier does. Elevate your concern with carrier to a higher tech support level.

Thanks for the comments. I didn’t say people weren’t aware of WiFi calling … simply that the issue may not stand out if they aren’t totally dependent on it….

No I don’t use VPN, there are no carrier updates available, and yes I have carried out a forced restart.

i appreciate nobody here works for Apple - just trying to see if anyone else has found a solution or got either a carrier or Apple to “own” the issue 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are you US based? My guess is that you’re right and there is something the carrier needs to update to fall in line with Apple, however, here in the UK they seem blissfully unaware if that’s the case !!

Yes, I'm US based and the major carriers over on this side of the pond, seem to get their updates rolled out to users on time with iOS updates. I hope your carrier gets this sorted for you.
