How can I recover deleted text messages back on my iPhone?

I accidentally deleted messages that are important to me from my iPhone last night, that I want back on my phone. I have iCloud enabled, for sure, as I just realized the messages are still on my MacBook Air, including the ones that I accidentally deleted from my iPhone, and new messages that I've both sent and received today on my iPhone are showing up on my MacBook Air, so I really don't understand why the accidentally deleted messages are still on my laptop, but nonetheless here is my question. How I get the messages from my MacBook Air, back to my iPhone? I have a "sync now" option on my iPhone, but I'm afraid it I click that, that my MacBook Air will match my iPhone, when I want my iPhone to instead match my MacBook Air. Any help from someone who has dealt with this or an expert would be much appreciated! TIA!

Have you checked the recently deleted section in Messages?

Open Messages and click "Edit" in the top left. If there are messages that were recently deleted, you'll have an option to tap "Show Recently Deleted"

From there, you can restore the deleted messages.
