No sound when using apple CarPlay

i use my iphone13pro as gps in my car via Apple Carplay. Since the last update to ios 18.6.1 i do not get any sound , so the voice does not tell me where to go, ik only have my screen with the route mapped out . Strangely enough “the voice” did speak up once warning me about a speed limit and traffic camera ahead. I have not changed any setiings in my iphone. I have tried turning it off completely and restarting. The oroblem is still End of the coming week we are leaving for France so this could not have come at a worse time. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this ?

btw i always connect the iphone to my car with a usb cable.

and sorry is my english is crooked but i’m in Belgium , so dutch speaking 🥴

That's actually Apple Maps, not Google Maps, though Google Maps as well as Waze are options you can use with CarPlay. Since you're using the native Apple Maps app, see this link to ensure you have configured settings for spoke directions --> Change settings for spoken directions in Maps on iPhone - Apple Support

You did well with your English! It would help to know what Navigation App you are using with CarPlay? And since you do have Navigation App options, if you choose a different Navigation App, is the result the same?

When i tried apple maps gps today, before i got in my car, i noticed 3 speaker icons on the right side on the map. When i tapped one of them i immediately heard “the voice” telling me where to go. When afterwards i used apple maps in my car i had sound again! !! 🥳

Funny thing is that those 3 speakers have now disappeared. So i have no clue as to why the showed up first. Hopefully the sound stays on now.

Anyway i keep the link you supplied me with close at hand because there are some good tips in there. Thanks !
