iOS update 18.6.1 (22G90) stops wifi, but cellular still works on my iPhone 13.

I updated to the latest iOS 18.6.1 and the wifi immediately stopped working. I can connect to any wifi system, however I cannot receive or send data. If I restart the phone I will briefly see the wifi signal icon but when the cellular boots up the wifi icon disappears . Turning off cellular data does not help. I need to revert to the previous operating system, but I don't see anyway to do it.

iPhone 13, iOS 18

Downgrading iOS has never been supported, so you can't go back to the previous version. Do you use a VPN on your iPhone? If you do, not only turn it off (they are completely not needed and often cause connectivity issues), but open Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and completely remove the VPN profile. The same applies to anti-virus or cleaner apps. They all cause issues and aren't needed.

As I mentioned, having a VPN on your phone, which is totally, utterly, completely unnecessary, ALSO causes connectivity issues. I also told you to not only turn the VPN off, but remove the profile completely.

If you want to have access to Wifi again on your iPhone do the following:

  1. Open Settings > General > VPN & Device Management
  2. Remove the VPN from there, if you have an app for the VPN, delete the app too
  3. If you have a VPN on the other phones remove the VPN from them as well
  4. Then Force Restart your iPhone by following the directions in this link exactly --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
  5. When you sign back into your phone, you should be able to connect to Wifi

I brought the phone to an apple tech. He confirmed the phone its self is functioning. His opinion is it is a software issue. He stated Apple does not have a way to go back to a previous version. He stated my only option is to hope apple will correct the problem with a future update. He did load a clean version direct from apple servers in case the program had been corrupted. The problem was not fixed.

If it was a software issue, it would affect everyone with an iPhone who updated to iOS 18.6.1. This forum would be blown up with people complaining, yet ist's not. I can't even imagine an Apple Technical Support person even suggesting it's a software issue.

You didn't answer my question. Do you have a VPN on your iPhone?
