Activation Lock on iPhone 14 Pro

Hello

I want to provide information about the iPhone 14 Pro that I bought second-hand and complain about Apple's injustice. The serial number of the phone is 3*********7 and the serial number C******* and the Apple ID of the phone is t*****@hotmail.com.

On October 10, 2024, I bought a second-hand phone, bought an Apple ID and entered it into the phone and on October 12, 2024, the phone is locked.

If Apple has blocked the ID, it is okay, but why has it taken away the right to use the iPhone from me?

We live in Iran, Apple does not have a representative here, we buy our Apple ID from Apple ID sales sites, this Apple ID was purchased from appleidshop.com.

forgive us if we made any mistakes, this phone has no reports of being stolen or lost

If the prior owner had prepared the device properly for resale, you would not have this problem.

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Your legitimate issue is with whoever sold you a non-working device.

Apple is protecting the property rights of THAT — still currently-registered — owner because he has not informed Apple to do otherwise.

Presumably, you’d expect Apple to do the same for you.

That owner may still relinquish his “lock” by following these instructions:

You say you bought an Apple ID (now called an Apple Account) which in itself is not allowed. Apple does not allow users to sell or transfer their accounts to another person. You can do that (just like you can go to a street corner in some places and buy a passport), but if you have problems with the account, Apple won't provide any support and may even disable it permanently.

It is also quite possible that the phone was actually stolen and the account you were given is not the one used to lock the phone. You are victim to fraud and there is probably nothing you can do.

In the end there are two ways to remove the lock. Links to the methods were provided in previous posts. One is to use the actual account information that was used to lock the phone in the first place. If you bought the phone in one place and the account in another, it would be like me buying a lock in one store and a key in another store - they have nothing to do with each other.

The other method is to contact Apple and request they unlock the phone. Apple will likely require you be able to present the original sales receipt by Apple or an Apple approved vendor. Unless you have that receipt, Apple will refuse to unlock the device. Apple has no way of knowing that you are not the thief!

There is no injustice here – at least, no injustice by Apple, towards you.

Activation Lock is an anti-theft mechanism. It is quite possible that the phone that you bought second-hand is stolen property. In which case, Activation Lock would be protecting the interest of the phone's rightful owner. Apple is not obligated to make it easy for you to use what is potentially stolen property, or that is, at the least, property that the previous owner did not prepare properly for transfer to a new owner.

Get your money back from the seller – if you can. Don't be surprised if – as in so many of these cases, the seller has suddenly "disappeared" or refuses to stand behind "their" product.

Buying your Apple ID is the problem as you are not the owner of that account and were scammed. The US Government prevents Apple from doing business in Iran, so there is nothing Apple can do about that. Attempting to find a way to bypass these restriction is never going to work out well for you. Don't forget the owner of that Apple ID can now track the phone and know exactly where it is if Find My was turned on.

My suggestion is to purchase a Phone that is supported in your region and quit trying to bypass those restrictions.

Apple does not do business in Iran. It is illegal to give or sell iPhones to anyone who intends to take the to Iran.

Selling Apple ID's is a violation of Apple's terms of service.

No support is available in Iran at all.
