Words With Friends2 had been hacked on iphone

My phone heats up dramatically when certain players are online, even if I am not in the game. It is a group of players within a club.

They seem to know my letters & watch my plays.

Other apps performance is sometimes affected.

How can this have been done?

How can I stop it?

Is there any way to find out who initiated & shared it within the group?

iPhone SE, iOS 18

We have received many reports of Words With Friends 2 causing the iPhone to warm up after one of the latest updates. You are best advised to contact the app developers. If Apple receives enough reports, they will force them to address the issue or risk having their app taken down. But your iPhone most certainly isn't hacked, and definitely not by a third-party app. iPhone apps from the App Store are designed sandboxed, meaning apps cannot access any content on the iPhone outside of its app, such as system settings.

Seems extremely unlikely.

If the game is causing your phone to heat up, and it is not a graphics-intensive game, a likely explanation is that it is coded poorly, with “busy wait” loops instead of sleeping waiting for events. “Busy wait” loops are a very inefficient way to do things and can chew up a lot of CPU power and cause the CPU to generate excess heat.

Which is why software developers are taught to avoid them, or at least to put their programs to sleep for a short time during each iteration of the loop.

Au contraire...several "friends" apparently have been given access to my info...is that even legal? I think they somehow use screen mirroring because they seem to know my tiles & see my word before I hit the play button. Screen mirroring is Apple, I believe. I can't break the connection.

Nope. Not happening. Look for another explanation.
