But your phone still thinks you are. Open Settings > General > VPN & Device Management - remove the VPN profile and if there is a corresponding app for your VPN, delete it too.

Then Force Restart your iPhone after removing all associations to a VPN --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Remove any added VPN, and try again.

The widely-hyped “coffee shop” VPNs badly solve a problem that hasn’t existed for a decade or so, but badly solve it in a way perfect for collecting personally-identified connection data and metadata.

And they routinely cause network routing issues.

You're welcome. I'm glad it worked. NOW, don't ever install a worthless VPN on your phone going forward. They don't provide the security you think, in fact, quite the opposite and iPhone simply doesn't need a VPN at all.
