How can I change Amazon currency from USD to Euros on Safari?

Hello.

Every time I login into Amazon from Safari on my iPad (both normal and private mode) the site now shows the site prices in USD….the problem is that I’m not located in America, and in fact on any other device and browser including the app the prices remain in Euros — and the same happened on Safari up until literally a couple of days ago, whereas now they switch: if I browse the site as guest prices show up in Euros, but once I login the currency across site switches to USD.

Amazon of course said the fault is with the iPad (which probably is since on every other device prices don’t switch currency), so just to be sure I’ve tried deleting the browser’s cache, cookies and history both from the browser and the iPad settings and to reboot the iPad but the bug is still there.

Both iPadOS and the apps are up to date, so it’s not that.

Can someone help? Thank you in advance.

Currency is entirely dependent on the Amazon website you are visiting.

If you are logging into Amazon.com, it will always be in U.S. dollars because it’s the American website.

To get euros you need to log into one of Amazon’s European websites. More specifically the one for the country you are in.

amazon.de for Germany.

amazon.es for Spain.

amazon.fr for France

etc…

What european country are you in?

That’s the problem: I am on an EU website (I actually tried multiple, with the same result) and yet after I login the currency switches to USD — whereas if I browse as guest, prices are in Euros.

Past clearing cookies and saved browser data, you will want to discuss issues with your Amazon account settings or Amazon website (mis)behaviors with Amazon Support, if you are unable to switch those settings:

Change the language and region on iPad - Apple Support describes how to change the iPad's language and other specific localization aspects including currency.

You will notice there is no choice for the EU, which is the reason for asking "What is the URL of the Amazon site you are asking about?" There are specific URLs for specific Amazon sites, and if you are unwilling or unable to provide that information it will be difficult for anyone to provide further assistance.

The currency changed on its own and keep changing whenever I log in….even if I set it on the default Euro, next time I log in it’s back to USD again.

Logging in... to Amazon? If that is what you mean then it is clearly a question for Amazon, and they erred in concluding the fault is with the iPad. Contact them again and ask for assistance.

I took one, but I can’t upload it.

But the country is the first thing I checked when I saw the change in currency, and it was and remained a EU one. I never changed that nor the currency. The currency changed on its own and keep changing whenever I log in….even if I set it on the default Euro, next time I log in it’s back to USD again.

I have tried 4 different browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Opera), 4 different devices (iPad, Android tablet, Android phone and Windows laptop) and 2 different connections (wi-fi and mobile). I also have contacted Amazon support.

And yeah, given the “answers” I’ve received here it seems evident I have no choice but to live with it.

Thanks for that last bit of information. We’ve been assuming you were having this issue on just Safari and iPadOS. Since the issue is present on other platforms as well that begs the question of what the common denominator is.

Seemingly, the Amazon account would be the common factor:

I’m not inclined to test any regional or currency-related settings, however.
