iPhone 15 Pro Max Losing Cellular Connection After Upgrade to 18.6.2

Ever since my iPhone updated to iOS 18.6.2 this weekend my cellular connection keeps dropping in and out. Sometimes I go into SOS mode, sometimes I just have nothing at all.

Steps I've taken to solve this:

Switching Airplane Mode off/on

Switching Cellular off/on

Powering Off The Phone

Resetting The Network Settings

Full Wipe Keeping The eSim Data

Running Apple Diagnostics, The Result Showed A Problem With The eSim And To Contact My Carrier

I Went Into A Verizon Corporate Store

Verizon "repositioned" the eSim and it didn't make any difference. They said they had never seen this problem before. My options with them were either pay off the balance of the phone, losing the trade-in credit that I get every month, and purchasing a new phone at full price; or adding a second line and getting a new phone with their current offer.

I've seen other people with similar issues, so I am hesitant to purchase a new phone if this really is the result of the upgrade to 18.6.2

With 2 billion iPhones in use there will always be other people with similar issues, so that isn’t a useful contribution to troubleshooting. And hundreds of millions of users have updated to 18.5.2 and do not have this problem, including me.

The trouble with going to Verizon is that all of their stores are staffed with sales droids; Verizon fired all field tech staff several years ago. You can do better by calling Verizon support and asking for a tech specialist. They actually know their *** from their elbow.

BTW, the term is “re-provisioned” the eSim.

Do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN, then restart your device. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN, but probably shouldn't.

Also, reset network settings:

  • Open Settings
    • Tap General
    • Tap Transfer or Reset Phone
    • Tap  Reset
    • Tap Reset Network Settings

    • This will erase all Wi-Fi passwords, but will not result in any other data loss.

Apple please help!

Apple isn’t here, so asking them to help is pointless.

Did you read and follow the troubleshooting in the post from me that you just responded to? Including deleting any VPN profiles?

If you want Apple to help you must contact Apple.

Best way:

  • Install the Apple Support app on your iPhone or iPad - you can contact support directly from the app, and the tech will have (with your permission) access to diagnostic data on your device

Other options:

(Note that both of the above have options to receive a callback or chat)
