I’ve got the iPhone 15 Pro set to warmest setting 6:01 AM to 6:00 AM. But the screen shows least warm. If I touch the slider circle, sitting on More Warm, it momentarily shift to most warm tone, but almost immediately shifts back to least warm as I lift my finger. I rebooted the phone to no avail. The phone is fully updated. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

It appears you're trying to use this virtually 24 hours a day? It is intended as the description suggests to do this after dark.
Try a Forced Restart on your phone and see it changes --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
If this doesn't help you, I don't use Night Shift, so I don't have much experience with it. I'd suggest you contact Apple Support for more help. You can tap the Support button at the bottom of this page, visit your closest Apple Store Genius bar, or if you're in the US, call Apple at: 800-MY-APPLE
Yes, I intend to keep it on virtually all the time. This same setting seemed to work for the last few years, but I just noticed the phone much brighter in the last day or so, so the issue is very recent.
