Microphone active in safari when opening Facebook.

Hello,

When opening Facebook in safari (Sequoia), my microphone becomes active. It doesn't if I open other sites. And it doesn't do it in google chrome. So I restricted all access to Facebook by setting my microphone to "refuse" for Facebook. I deleted my safari history, closed it and rebooted. But safari still doesn't want to refuse microphone access to Facebook.

I should say that as standard, it was on "Ask" in website menu in the safari settings.

Does anyone have a clue about why safari still gives microphone access to Facebook ?

I'm on Sequoia with a MacBook Pro M4 pro with all up to date OS and Apps.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.6

**nevermind. The second time I went back to FB the mic came on again. I tried in a private window and the mic still came on.

I had this issue too, and didn't find your post when I searched the issue, but my brother alerted me to your post. He also provided this:

In Safari settings go to:

Privacy > Manage Website Data… > Remove All

  • note that if you Remove All it will affect all website data (cookies, logins, etc). I opted to highlight the Facebook.com and facebook.net listings and clicked "Remove" for each one (individually). I then restarted Safari and the microphone no longer comes on when I visit FB (I did have to logon again of course).

Hello,

Did you read my comment ?

That's what I did. And that's why I posted this issue, because there are no solution I found until now.

Safari memorized my choice. So every time I go in the settings menu, it is effectively on "Refuse". I cleared all cache history and else, and rebooted. I tried as many as five times the whole process. But with no effect.
