iPhone 13, we have 2 - different placement on front earpiece

Recently acquired 2 iPhone 13, one from a relative, one from a retailer (new in the box).

The placement of the front earpiece are different. The reason I found this out, is because I bought screen protectors. The new in the box phone the screen protector fit, the one from the relative looks more like the iPhone 12 placement of the earpiece. Both phones have the same size notch. I don’t seem to find an answer why this is. Anyone in the community that might haven explanation?

See comment below of model numbers. The blue phone fits perfectly in a case made for 13, which (if I understand it correctly) is thicker than 12. So if it is really a 12, how can it fit there perfectly, show the model number for a 13 and identify as a 13 on Apple’s website?

Hello~ There are cases that will fit both. The very fact that you have an iPhone 13 showing 100% battery health is a red flag for me. There is always a chance if you bought outside of Apple that the battery health as well as model number could have been tampered with…

I doubt it has ever been tampered with, when I checked the serial number on the Apple website, it shows the sales date as 9/2/2025, which is the day I bought it from Walmart.

Sounds like it is fine, you should be able to buy AppleCare+ for additional peace of mind.

Two shapes of 13 was unexpected unless the older one had the screen replaced by a third party

White phone case (phone is actually midnight in color)is MLML3LL/A, A2482, brand new out of the box. Max capacity on battery 100%. 128 GB. Purchased on 9/2/2025

Blue phone is MLC13LL/A, A2482 given to me from a relative (no cost to me). Max capacity on battery 85%. 256GB. Purchased in September 2021, according to Apple’s website where you can check the serial numbers.

Well both those numbers are iPhone 13 numbers for the American (LL/A) market so ….. I have no idea why they are obviously different ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
