How to stop Dictionary.app from interfering with my work (& my life)?

I use a 15" MacBook Air, 32GB memory, OS Sequoia 15.6.1.

Every time I select text in order to copy it, Dictionary.app (version 2.3.0 (294)) opens. When I close the app, often it re-opens when I select text again (and sometimes it won't stop doing this). This is deeply frustrating.

I haven't been able to find a way to make this stop. I have even tried to delete it, but I have not succeeded.|

I'd love any suggestions you may have! Thanks in advance!

Most likely you are pressing hard enough on the trackpad that it's a 'force click'. You can disable that function in System Settings > Trackpad > Point & Click, set Look up & data detectors to Off. You could also turn off Force Click entirely (one setting up).
