Hello everyone, this is my first post. I believe I may have found a simple fix that noticeably reduced my phone's heating.

The Two-Step Process

Aggressive App Deletion (Digital Declutter):

    • I reviewed my installed applications and deleted all non-essential apps like shopping, food delivery, Google apps, basically everything you can just reinstall easily but will just take effort and most social media (I only kept Instagram and Facebook cause of saved drafts).
    • The idea is to eliminate background refresh and notification processes from apps you don't use daily. You can reinstall them when needed.

Reset All Settings:

    • Navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings.
    • Crucial Note: This action will not delete your personal data (photos, messages, etc.). It only restores your layout, wallpapers, sound preferences, and other custom settings back to their factory defaults.

Let me know if this works!

Did you recently perform an update. I see you are using iOS 26 that was just released today and you should expect your phone to be hot for several days, and not unusual for it to take a week for the indexing to complete. If you were previously using the beta version of iOS 26, that is expected as well through the entire beta process.

Your phone does have temperature sensors in it and will show a thermometer on the screen and shut down when it gets too hot. I assume you are not seeing that.

Stay tuned there will be many users saying the same thing for the next week after the update, then those posts will gradually go away. The same thing was seen on iOS 18, 17 and previous iOS updates. It was predicted here as well to get ready for the battery heat and battery draining posts after the update.

Have you looked at your apps using battery capacity? Many apps have not been optimized to provide best battery life yet. This includes most games and most social media apps. Facebook isn’t causing a drain like it did in iOS 18, but Instagram is causing issues so, I’m taking a break from it. TikTok is a problem being reported in the forums here.

I have the same problem. It used to get hot sometimes, but now it's constant (not hot), but it's hot, and it's been heating up much faster since iOS 26. I've already tried a force restart, but nothing. I thought it would be better with iOS 26.1, but it's still heating up. My wife has an iPhone 12 mini, but nothing for her! And the battery is draining much faster. Previously, it lasted 1 day with 80% charge, now even 90 is not enough!!!

This is not a solution. All Apple should do is release an update that fixes this. It's getting hot for me, which is definitely not good for the phone or the device! They said that it would go away after 1-2 weeks if the phone didn't do so much in the background. Previously, if a lot of things were running at once, it would get a little hot, but now it's fine.
