That is EXACTLY it. Attention Required is a security feature; it verifies that your eyes are open and it can see the whites of your eyes.
I'll try that again, I did do this, also a hard reboot. The Face ID seems to work...but it stops again out of nowhere.
Anyway, glad I'm the only one having this issue with iOS26 and Face ID failing.
On my iPhone 11, Face ID no longer works after iOS 26. I hope Apple urgently fixes this issue 😡😡
I restarted my phone, clicked on reset Face ID, and now I get an error message that “Face ID is unavailable, try again “. WTAF

I can’t unlock my phone, open apps, or reset my FaceID - it has nothing to do with AttenionAware feature - it won’t allow me to reset FaceID or use it for any purpose.
