iCloud for Windows login issue – verification code not sent

When logging in to iCloud for Windows, after entering my password I see the following message:

“To access your end-to-end encrypted data including passwords and other features, sign in to Apple device to receive a verification code”.

However, no verification code is sent to any of my trusted Apple devices (I am signed in and two-factor authentication is enabled).

Signing out of iCloud for Windows and signing back in makes the verification code appear correctly – but only once.

After updating my laptop’s BIOS or performing any action that forces me to log in to iCloud for Windows again, the issue repeats: the verification code is not sent and the login fails.

It would be nice if Apple fixed this behavior so that verification codes are reliably sent every time you try to log in to iCloud for Windows.

In the app trying to verify the account there is no option to receive the code by text. Forced to log into an Apple device, which I don't have.

I appear to be logged into the icloud for windows app but nothing will transfer until verified.

I've removed all my verified devices and only have a mobile number as a means to authenticate.

I'm logged into icloud.com and no messages appear here.

Heaven forbid that I don't have an apple device.
