iOS26 update on iPhone 15 ruined wireless charging

After updating my iPhone 15 to iOS26, my qi2 wireless charger keep turning on and off. Though my phone is constantly showing charging, the battery keeps dropping while connected.

Also tried with other phones(not iPhone) works fine, the charger does not disconnect.

I have been using this wireless charger with my iPhone for the past 1year never had any issue.

UPDATE: This issue is happening only when I am charging my phone while it is turned on.
If I switch off my phone and then put it on charge, and let it automatically boot up, it is charging as usual, like it used to.

Update2: Switching off the phone helps to keep the connection stable but it becomes a 'slow charger'.

I think this means it is not detecting the qi2 successfully, but wireless charging is working.

But restarting your phone every time to wirelessly charge is very annoying, also very slow.

So- I only discovered that my iPhone 15 had this problem a few hours ago, the MagSafe charging was working fine initially on the update, maybe after it went to 26.0.1? I don’t know exactly. In any case, I can’t say I’ve fixed my problem, but initially when I discovered it, my charger wasn’t being recognized at all. I did a fast search and came up with this solution and got it recognizing the MagSafe- but I haven’t been able to fully test if it’ll charge it to 100% yet.

Press Volume Up. Press Volume Down. Now HOLD power until you see the Apple ( don’t swipe)

when I restarted it, I placed it on the MagSafe and it recognized it right away- but I had to go so I couldn’t see if it was temporary or not. Yet

I have the same issue. The wireless chargers I have were working fine with every other iOS version on my 15 max pro. After installing iOS 26 none of them work. Just as you described..when I place the phone on the charger at night they indicate they are charging but stop and start slow charging or not at all leaving the battery almost dead in the morning. one is a magsafe and another is just a reg qi2.

They all still work with my wife's iPhone 12 which is still on iOS 18.

Since Apple claims the phones support qi2 charging the brand of charger should not matter. Also since they all did work with the same hardware at one point something in the software update caused the issue clearly.

Wireless charging is not just two coils using plain induction, it is software controlled and iOS26 on iphone15 uses new software that your self claimed Qi2 Chinese knock-off pad may not be compatible with.

Invest £€$50 on the proper charger for that phone. If it still plays up your phone has a fault.

...One is Belkin and the other Anker both of which are sold on apple.com and in their own apple stores.

So they should work, report it https://apple.com/feedback

What you are suggesting is Apple knowingly broke support for third party wireless charging some of which they both certified and sell on apple.com.

No I said some so-called certified chargers may be chinese knock-offs.

Anker and Belkin from Apple should work.

Update3: Even after updating to the latest iOS 26.0.1, the issue still exists.

Hello all I own a iphone 12 which has been great over the years . After ios26 the same thing is happening when wireless charging it goes on and off . been in contact all week with apple and was at a apple store yesterday . here is the strange thing . when we tried wireless charging there it worked fine . but when they connected the cable to charge the phone it failed . they could not explain what was happening and neither could i . I took the phone home connected the cable to charge and it worked fine , But when i tried wireless charging in cycled on and off . Tried it on 3 different wireless chargers which work fine on other phones and same result cycles on and off . but when i connect the apple magsafe charger it works ok . all this after ios26 ,even though apple claims that they dont think so .; Just downloaded ios 26.1 hoping that it would fix the issue but still hasnt . In one way im glad im not the only one with this issue , but its really frustrating
