Disable glass effect in iOS 26 for better battery life

Who thought the glass effect was a good idea? Please add an option to disable it — my eyes aren’t a GPU benchmark, and it murders the battery.

While you cannot turn off Liquid Glass, you can reduce its transparency effect at Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Reduce Transparency.  This removes the translucent "liquid" effect, making UI elements like menus and buttons more solid and easier to read, and reducing the load on the processor and battery usage.

Again, telling Apple is the only option you have. And it's clear you've never developed an Operating System. If you had, you'd likely understand why it isn't so simple to have a disable option. Perhaps you could apply to Apple and show them how it should be done?

I think that looks great and I learned pretty early on with Liquid Glass that dark background wallpapers work the best. I tend to change my wallpaper to match one of the cases I'm using and currently, my Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max is in an Apple Sienna TechWoven case, so my screen protector incorporates browns and oranges.

I honestly don't understand how anyone can look at this and say it looks bad?

If my 74 year old non-tech wife can do it, why can't you?

My 77 year old husband can. Our best friends, both in their 80s can. And if you look at my screenshot of my iPhone screen above, I simply don't understand what would be hard to see and I'm NOT using Tinted. I'm using the full Liquid Glass affect.

1. I did submit my preference on the Product Feedback. And you say only other users here. Then why did Apple remove my first reply?
2. The other App issue was just a reference of similar treatment of users, by programmers.

Hello~ If you had a reply removed it was for breaking the ToU that you agreed to for participation here. Apple’s site …Apple’s rules. You seem to be laboring under the belief that companies ask consumers for their thoughts on things before they create a product.

Do auto manufacturers ask their customers what their cars should look like? Appliance manufacturers? Any business? They all build what they think their customers will like. And in most cases (including this one) they end up being right. Just because you don’t like it that doesn't mean hundreds of millions of others agree with you.

We can't speak for Apple. But then, you seem to be under the impression no one likes Liquid Glass. That would be a bad conclusion on your part. I quite like it. So maybe they made it for me? And while you used the feedback link to share you clearly don't like Liquid Glass, I used the very same feedback link to thank Apple for taking a great step forward.

Apple is a for-profit company. They want to sell products to customers. That's how they make money. That should answer your question.

I like Liquid Glass a lot. I wasn't sure about it for the first couple of days, but the more I worked with it, the better I liked it.

Hello once more~ Now I ask you…do you think that a company the size of Apple doesn’t research what its customers want or don’t want? You always have those who don’t like something when introduced. Why would Android be in the process of doing something similar? Anyway this is a technical forum where fellow users try and help each other with issues. It’s not a place to argue or harangue on and on about something that none of us can change. Believe it or not…Apple doesn’t ask for our opinions either.
