Slow performance and lag after iOS 26 update on iPhone

iOS 26.1 is currently in beta and we cannot comment on the issues that have been resolved in that update as it is a violation of the terms for being a beta tester. If you have tried all the recommendations here then waiting for that update may be your only option to compare your results. I assume you have already Factory Reset your device using a computer to reinstall the OS in case of data corruption.

There is no reason for strong language, we are all civilized human beings that are perfectly capable of communicating with each other without any name calling, whether you feel it is appropriate or not.

Do they test older devices before releasing an iOS update? How far back do they go? For example, did they test iOS 26 on iPhone 11? Is there any interest on fixing these significant lagging and battery drainage issues? It seems to me that all they need to do is have the option to disable the heavy operating system's demands. I have more than 115 GB free and have tried every possible suggestion I find in here and on the internet, plus I have waited a few weeks, nevertheless nothing has improved for my phone performance. I’m at the point where I really wish I never updated.

I have already disabled Apple Intelligence and Transparency and the performance still feels like an Android device. It was super snappy, on the point, every single aspect of the phone was blazingly fast, even on my old iPhone 11 Pro was super fast, now i'm on an iPhone 15 Pro with a very odd and bad performance on the iOS 26 even after more than a month.

Any issue with a single app would need to be resolved by that developer. There was an update to that app 16 hours ago in the App Store where the Developer said they have resolved a number of bugs and issues.

My Xs max never hanged in 4 year as well 14 plus but in 15 pro max I m struggling same..after buying expensive phone we get lags because of updates and which stop me to buy next expensive phone again.because os remain same for all.

It’s been a while since the new IOS 26 update rolled out. My iPhone 14 Pro which is on IOS 18 feels wayy smoother than my iPhone 16 pro on the iOS 26. While it has it perks, it’s mostly all downhill since it lags a LOT! It is literally one year old and it lags like crazy. I can’t even roll back to iOS 18. Please fix it ASAP as it is really annoying and frustrating to use specially since the phone is ONLY ONE YEAR OLD

Is Apple going to fix these issues in their eco system? Because my apple watch and my iphone 13 pro max now perform like 5 years old Xiaomi. I mean, the Apple phones was always a thing - you buy and you can use it several years and it will work perfectly, but now, it's not.

Yup it’s true I have a 16+ 4 months old iOS 18 was working perfectly. And soon as I installed iOS 26 the fps dropped during any type of gameplay. And how nice of apples sorry decision to force the update and unsign iOS 18. They should’ve left the option to downgrade til they perfected iOS 26.

It's pretty clear to me that most of us are experiencing unacceptable performance issues, along with significant processing delays, and that we didn't have these issues before updating to iOS 26. I don't know how long it will take Apple to fix these, but one easy and immediate solution they could implement is to allow users to revert to the previous version of iOS. Once they have an acceptable solution, we'll be able to update to the latest version. What do you all think?

After updating my iPhone 15 to iOS 26, WhatsApp started lagging and freezing during chats. The new sent msg getting disappear with keyboard. I tried reinstalling and updating, but the issue remains. Please fix this in the next update.

I updated my 12,13&14 to the iOS26 strait after I had extremely hot phones and battery usage was very low but after 10 days that was back but I’m still getting really slow usage on all my phones when will this end

Dear Apple people could you resign or give us a limited option to downgrade to the latest version os iOS 26 I’m on my iPhone 13 and it runs like **** and stutters on the home screen the performance is a huge downgrade make it more optimized and run better

As others have mentioned, performance issues are noticeable. The most significant issue I observed was the search function in the message app is unable to find messages before I downloaded the new iOS. This is particularly frustrating as I now have to scroll to find old messages. Major design flaw !

Same with me. Ever since i updated to IOS26 my iphone 16 plus has bren extremely slow and laggy. This has been the case for 3 weeks now. Before the update there was no problems. Seriously considering switching to android
