Notifications don’t work when iPhone is off in iOS 26

Your original post is confusing. You will never get notifications on your phone if it is turn off. It doesn't do anything if it's off.

Moving on. Have you restarted both devices since you updated? If you haven't, do that now. Then, make sure you don't have any Focuses turned on.

For Standby, make sure you have notifications enabled. Settings>Standby>Show Notifications

Got new iphone 17 pro, same issue. Phone was set up from an existing phone 14 pro on ios18.7. Did lots of testing, restart, forced restart. Was on apple support call for 90 min they couldn’t figure it out. Calls come through but almost no notifications on Lock Screen. Erased the phone and tested without setup from existing phone and notifications worked in the stock settings. Wiped phone again and set up from my 14 pro again, problem came back and notifications do not alert on Lock Screen.

This bug is iOS issue, I tried almost everything, including all settings, DFU, and many and many other attempts to fix this issue. And overall - nothing. Just write to Apple Feedback, maybe they will fix this in near update. I'm waiting too.

I had the same issue, so I turned silent mode on and then off again, and after doing this, the notification sound came back.

Looks like it's a software glitch, turn the silence notifications switch on then back off again a few times.

Then turn it off completely to allow notifications and your notifications will come back. Simple fix but quite annoying.

Unless you tell us what troubleshooting steps you've already tried, you may well get more suggestions that are redundant.

Did you check the standby notifications as I suggested?

Try force restarting the phone. Try unpairing and re-pairing the watch.

ok this has been driving me crazy since. I even ended it with apple support because they were no help. I changed haptics to play on silent instead of always on and I think it fixed it!! Swear I had that on before with my sounds and it was fine but idk try it and let me know

I’m having the same problem with my iPhone 14 and Watch Series 7 but only for certain apps (F1 TV and Slickdeals, no notifications; Gmail and Messages, notifications are working).

I’m still getting notifications for F1 TV on my old 1st gen iPad Pro which is too old to update to iOS 26.

I only mentioned Standby because you brought it up.

Unpairing and re-pairing the watch doesn't cause data loss. You have a backup on the phone. I think the only thing you'd need to add back would be any cards in Wallet.

I've read all your messages and I'm having the same problem. I'll add my own to say that a friend of mine pointed out that I'm not getting notifications because the message itself isn't arriving. In other words, if she sends me the message on WhatsApp, she only sees a single check mark, meaning the message hasn't been delivered. So, I'm starting to think there's a networking issue.

By the way if you are wearing your watch you will NEVER get notifications on your locked phone, only on an open phone, by design

You have to customise notifications to get them on iphone instead but never on both.

I believe it’s a combination of two things .. it’s a weird bug and also the darn text notifications sounds being insanely low volume.. in you case bro you have your notifications volume slider pretty low and right under it you have “change with buttons” toggled on.. turn that off, and Apple, for the love God fix this already.. first of all raise up the volume for your text message tones. How is it that the ‘classic’ alert sounds from over a decade ago are by far louder than all the new ones? Not to high jack op’s post but I see the alarm is still having issues and sometimes doesn’t wake me up. The other day I happened to be alert when it went off and I heard the sound go off for 3 seconds or so and turn off immediately and went to snooze.. like what is this? Come on Apple u are way better than this.. or at least I assumed you were ..this is all on iPhone 17 pro now too..

A few additional notes:

1) Text notifications have always been a little wonky, working about 80% of the time, but for some reason not always.

2) Since "upgrading" to iOS 26, I don't think I ever get notices.

3) Notifications are allowed in general settings, and allowed in messages settings.

4) Not in silent mode

5) Volume is up

6) Sound is working (for example if I play music), and ringer works on phone

7) Not in Do Not Disturb or anything

8) I have restarted the phone several times

9) I've read suggestions that I should reset the phone, that something is probably corrupted and that will clear it out. I really don't want the hassle of resetting everything and setting it all back up, especially since as others have noted, I probably need to just wait for an update. That said, I'm not seeing a ton of chatter about this issue, so my guess is it isn't widespread, meaning it's not really an iOS 26 issue, or it's a very uncommon one...
