That's because you can't change how the Clock App looks in iOS 26. The App icon is the App icon Apple chose and it can't be changed.
If you really want the icon to look different, you can create a shortcut and make the icon look the way you want, but change the actual app icon, you cannot.

I also do not like the clock face in the OS 26 update. I wish you would give us the ability to change it.
For people with impaired vision the change is a nightmare.
People with impaired vision can just add a clock widget such as this one:
Or this one:
But not the swiss clock face with small icon.
Those options do not exist on my iPad. And analogue to digital does not change the actual clock design, sadly.
How??????
This worked with minimal fuss. Thank you!
we are talking iPhone here, not iPad widget is too big.

Just changed it to a widget and it's now digital.
Same here. I was able to change the glass-type font to a solid font. Touch the clock on the home screen, then touch Customize at the bottom of the screen. Then you change the font to solid and any color offered.
Now it looks like the following photo. Note, the icon will not show you the actual time
of day, so you’ll have to look at the digital time read out in the upper left of your screen (or click your screen off & on to see the time on the lock screen instead), but for my purposes of wanting a quick way to access my alarms without looking at the old-fashioned clock face, this works.
You can’t manually change it.
It’s determined by your wallpaper.
How it works
The Dock uses: A blurred version of your wallpaper combined with a vibrancy/tint effect chosen by iOS based on the dominant colors behind the Dock area
So if your wallpaper is:
Light, the Dock will look light and translucent
Dark, the Dock will look darker
Very colorful, the Dock might pick up a faint tint of one of the colors

How do I change clock face on my iphone17
You cannot change the icon for the clock app.
You can let Apple know that's something you'd like to see here:
Put the suggestion in the iPhone section.

I couldn’t get to the original size. Only choice was a giant icon.
That's not an icon, it's a widget. You can't change the icon.
