I don’t have the edit button after I hold down the clock app. Why is that? Thanks

That's because you can't change how the Clock App looks in iOS 26. The App icon is the App icon Apple chose and it can't be changed.
If you really want the icon to look different, you can create a shortcut and make the icon look the way you want, but change the actual app icon, you cannot.
Here is how to create an App icon shortcut --> https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250011008

I hate the oversized icon on the clock face and some widgets like the example with the weather. Takes up too much space and annoying for us that like symmetry. I don’t understand why the old options are not available as additional options. I prefer the 24 hr clock which is only available as a huge annoying icon. Stop making “improvements” that make my life less comfortable.
You aren't writing anyone at Apple here on this user to user only forum. As users, no one here changed anything. If you want to share your thoughts with Apple, this is how you can do that --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

If you press and hold the clock face, an option to change it comes up. There’s not many options but at least the others are easier to see.
As has been explained a couple of times since the original post in September, that is not the Clock icon. That's a widget. You can change that but you still can't change the icon for the Clock app.

1. we should be able to change the clock face on our phones.
Tell Apple:
2. We shouldn’t have to pay for every single app that is on iPhone! I am sick of it the fact that Samsung you can get free apps and yet you guys charge it per day per week per month per year is disgusting
You don't have to pay for "every single app that is on the iPhone." All the basic apps you need are included by Apple at no charge. There are also lots of free apps in the App Store, as well as ones that cost only a small amount.
don’t say it’s the app’s fault because if you can get it free on Samsung then you can get it free on iPhone
Just because something is free on one platform doesn't mean it will be free on another. However, the Clock app is free on the iPhone. The fact that you can't change the app's icon doesn't change that.

Complaining about Apple app pricing and bringing up Samsung is not helpful. This thread is hoping to get Apple’s attention and provide us with options for the clock face. It’s a minor first world issue and not worth slinging mud about.
I believe you may have meant to respond to pctrchk
Apple - how about bringing some of the existing watch face designs into IOS and restoring the option for original clearly readable and elegant Swiss watch face? Thanks!
Tell Apple.

Honestly, I simply cannot believe the consternation over an app icon change? Are people's lives really this disrupted by a simple change? The App still works as it did before. It just looks different.
I know!

I find it sad how people are simply unable to adapt to change.
Apologies- I was having trouble posting as I was logged off multiple times so ended up replying to the wrong post. I’ll unsubscribe. As you say, if no one at Apple looks at this, there is no point to this thread. Asked and answered early on.

Indeed. I believe it's key to (my) cognitive health to keep learning new things and adapting to change.
Me too! And if the day ever comes I can't adapt to little or big changes, it will then be time to incinerate me and put me in the urn.

Just make sure it's somewhere the cats can't knock it down...

That would be up to whoever is in possession of my urn!

The old Swiss face and the current “70’s cheap alarm clock” face DO show the correct time. Even the second hand moves.
The new face is just more difficult for some of us to read while the previous face was fine.
and many of us don’t want a widget that takes the space of 4 icons on our hole screen.
Have you told Apple?

I must have amazing eyesight. I'm in my 70s' with astigmatism and nearsighted (I do wear glasses) and yet, I have no trouble reading the new clock on the app icon.
Either way, expressing what you think is wrong with it here, on a user to user only forum, where Apple neither participates nor reads for user feedback is pointless.
Use the link IdrisSeabright provided and tell Apple what you think.
I just Downloaded the iOS 26.1 Update into my iPhone 14 & noticed the “Odd” Change for the Clock & the User’s Inability to Change it Back to the Original Clock Face!
Hopefully, with All this Discussion from Apple Users, the IT Department will Have a “Fix” for this in a Future Update.
Thank you to everyone for your support.
Happy Holidays! 🎄

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:
