GIFs opening in Procreate instead of Files app after iOS 26 update

Since updating to iOS 26, when I try to open a gif in the Files app, it tries to open it in Procreate.

If I long press, I get the option to open it in Preview, but is there any way to get gifs to automatically open in Preview or in the Files app itself?

Old Files App Preview functionality Before the new Glassy-Bubble iOS Update, I could use the Files-App to browse my NAS and preview Pictures, Text, Word files and even Excel sheets with ease. Word and Excel were read-only but that was perfectly fine. Even a regular txt-file you could easily open and view on the iPhone. Since the new Update the Files-App seems to no longer be able to preview anything from above, and instead a new App "Preview" was introduced. This new App is a pita and non of the above mentioned previews work... Is there anyway to get back to the old preview behavior that the Files-App delivered?

how do I get out of Preview in ios26 after opening image in Files I don't see anyone else asking this so I presume I'm an idiot but: how do I get out of the Preview pane that pops up when you open an image in Files under ios 26.1? See attached screenshot for the screen that is baffling me. I have tried tapping everywhere on the screen, tried tapping each icon, I have found nothing that works aside from force-quitting Files, waiting a minute, and re-opening. This is the least intuitive new ios Apple has ever come up with, from my perspective, but this is the one I can't figure out at all.

Never mind. It seems to have resolved. Maybe the Procreate update fixed it.

Nope. It’s not fixed. I still need help with this.
