How can I fix Wi-Fi and CarPlay issues on iPhone 17 Pro Max?

Hi All, starting this thread as I purchased an iPhone 17 Pro Max today. Obviously it’s launch day so there’s not too much information on bugs as iOS 26 has recently come out in conjunction with the release of this phone. However, I’ve noticed some issues with my new phone and was wanting to see whether this is a ‘just me’ issue or it seems to be impacting other users.

Ive noticed that my wifi consistently was dropping in and out on setup and that my wireless apple carplay seems to disconnect intermittently.

I have tried a network settings reset with no resolution (twice) but would be really frustrated to have to reset my phone completely after transferring all my data across to my new phone.

I may end up returning this device and getting another one if any further issues persist whilst the return window is still an option.

People on the MacRumors forum are experiencing the same issues, and most of them are blaming the new WiFi chip. Apple really let us down this time. If they are working on a solution, why not come out and say it? There’s an article coming out in our local town newspaper warning people to hold off on upgrading to the new iPhone 17. Maybe this will catch momentum with it being discussed on X and other platforms. Perhaps Apple will take notice and create a sense of urgency.

I did have some initial success in my 2018 Nissan Leaf with 26.3 and my iPhone 17, but it soon degenerated into the usual pattern of no longer connecting. I do not believe Apple have done all they can and that it's now officially everybody else's problem. I continue to think the issue is on Apple's side and that, while what they've tweaked works for some people, the fix still isn't fully baked.

I have the issue where wireless CarPlay disconnects after a few minutes and locks up the car head unit. Wired works fine. It is unrelated to an Apple Watch in my case.

I had no issues with iPhone 15 pro and CarPlay connectivity. Just got my 17 pro Friday and can connect but intermittently drops out then reconnects over and over…what’s the story here Apple?

Same issue. CarPlay disconnects. With both AppleWatch connected or not.

after 2-3 minutes CarPlay will drop then reconnect.

happens on BMW iX and aftermarket CarPlay head unit for Tesla Model Y

The carlinkit 5.0 is known to be rather incompatible with the iPhone 15s and newer. The carlinkit mini se works fine with them.

Wired Carplay shouldn't have a problem. Symptoms all points to the wifi connection between the iPhone 17 and the head unit or the wireless dongle that keeps dropping intermittently.

Exactly same issue here. Tried both wireless and wired. No difference. Also tried with 13 Pro. No issues with that device ( wired and wireless). Help

us out Apple.

I did return mine, and received a new iphone 17 Pro, but the issue persists. A new phone won't fix this issue, it's Apple related.

JoyeAuto update working for me so far! Went for a 20 minute drive where I’d normally see 5-10 disconnects and not one now!

So glad I am not the only one! iPhone 17 Pro Max and have had nothing but issues since moving over to WiFi 7 (using a Deco BE68 system).

I also have the issue of Wi-Fi intermittently dropping on my 17 Pro Max. Wi-Fi will show three full bars and then drop to nothing. Like repeatedly. Places in my house where I could watch the YouTube video uninterrupted on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, now I experience intermittent pausing as it buffers and drops in and out of WiFi on my iPhone 17 Pro Max.
