iPhone 15 Pro screen brightness issue after iOS 26 update

I am also one the unlucky iPhone 15 Pro users with this issue. Switch off and on immediately and the screen brightness is back to normal. But I have also noticed in very dark room, it also doesn't auto dim completely, I have to manually dim it further.

This bug is unacceptable. Yesterday I updated to iOS 26.1 hoping to finally have this bug fixed, and apparently I still have it. Initially I thought it was fixed because everything was working normally, but this morning the problem occurred again. I feel it happens less frequently, but it continues to happen, which is a shame.

iPhone 5PM user: This is worse for me on 26.3.1 than it was on previous 26 versions, has anyone found a fix yet? I don’t want to turn auto brightness off and I find it ridiculous Apple hasn’t fixed this issue in over 4 months! It has become super annoying now, raise to wake is dim and after locking the phone and unlocking the phone restores the brightness to correct level but I can’t keep doing this, it’s very inconvenient.

iOS 26.4.1 issue is still present on 15PM, when I rise to wake phone brightness is to dim, after locking and unlocking again brightness is correct. I've tried disabling and enabling auto-brightness, true tone and restarting, nothing helps. This is the most annoying bug in iPhone history, 4 major updates, half a year of time, basic thing which was working even on buggy mess iOS 7 is still not working on iOS 26.4.1. I need to go on ebay and buy some old iPhone 2g just to calm my self dawn and remind my self how previously software was stable.

Updated to iOS 26.1 yesterday and the issue happens less often, but it still happens.

Have we all mentioned it to Apple

support? they said the more people that report it, the faster it’ll get fixed. I’ve had enough of this bug

I've updated to 26.4 about 5 hours ago and haven't encountered the brightness bug yet. Hopefully it's fixed now

It’s happening to my iPhone but the opposite like it will be maximum brightness in a dark room at 1am for no apparent reason even though I’ve got auto brightness on, happening to my m4 iPad Pro aswell all on OS26

Same issue for me, 15 Pro Max... I love the auto-brightness future since I owned my first iPhone 8 Plus years ago. also iOS 26.0.1 didn't fix it, contacted apple feedback support like day 3 about this when ios 26.0.0 released, so I guess good job Apple...

I also have this problem and it’s so annoying…nothing worked and those guys are so lame …they don’t do nothing at all via support. I don’t understand nothing about what are they trying to do …maybe they want to ruin this company cause I don’t understand how can people buy such expensive products and not using them as it should. So lame

Hi Apple team I hope you are reading this , IOS 26 is a bug hole update ,

1) Facebook photo scrolling is laggy

2) brightness dim and bright not working properly, sometime too bright sometime too dim even without adaptive and auto brightness on (This was not an issue in iOS 18

3) battery draining in IOS 26 is horrible quick (even screen is not on and still draining )

4) motion in Home Screen page is laggy when scrolling from last page to first page , I think due to the Liquid Glass effect

5) unable to turn off the Liquid Glass effect , because I think it is extremely ugly (I update it because I want to give it a try but now cannot revert back to iOS 18 because you guys had unsigned the iOS 18 Door in IPSW.me

Please fix it if you don’t want to lose your customers in the future , you are doing fine before but getting worse now.

I’m having the same issue. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max. iOS 26.0.1. This is just one of many bugs with the new iOS. Another glaring issue is the inability to use the camera widget. It opens to a black screen and literally freezes the phone for a

moment.

Same here, iPhone 15 Pro, updated to iOS 26, and I’m seeing the exact same issue. After waking the phone, the screen is way too dim, and unlocking doesn’t fix it. I have to lock and unlock again to get auto-brightness working properly.

It’s about 5 times a day, but definitely frequent enough to be frustrating. Glad I’m not the only one noticing this. Hopefully Apple patches it soon™.

It is most definitely not hardware , this wasn’t happening prior to the update , also I’m updated to 26.1 and it’s still dimming my display. It doesn’t do it often , but like today it did it out of the blue. There needs to be a better way to fix this rather than telling us that it’s hardware on our phones . So we all have hardware issues after the update ? I think if that’s the case apple needs to look into that .

It’s absolutely mind boggling that apple released this trash software. Same problem. How are this many people having these problems and these weren’t noticed in testing before release? What an absolute trash update this has been. Soooooo many bugs. Unacceptable apple. Absolutely unacceptable
