Text messages disappear after adding an image & sending the image

I was texting someone, then I added an image (via camera) & pressed the send button instinctively. The image sent without the message & the message vanished. I meant for the image to send with the message, or @ least go back to the original message in case I wanted to edit or proofread. I think I know there's a step I must do for that. But my text still vanished. It was a lot of text too... I was on the beta 26 version so I am updating now to the actual ios 26. I forgot.

Text message question I have an iPhone 14 Pro, updated to iOS 17.0.3. I have lost the options to send gifs, photos etc. they used to be showing below the text box but I can’t find them. Any suggestions??

Text Message pics will not open. They have a ? And a down arrow on the photo box. I down loaded the new version of ISO to my 6SE phone and now I can’t open pic sent to me in a text message. It had a ? And a down arrow but it will not respond to tapping on it.
