Camera not focusing at 1x on my iPhone 12 mini running iOS 26

I have updated to iOS 26 (iPhone 12 mini with brand new battery). After the update, whenever I try to take a picture with the 1x camera I observe the following behavior: The auto focus works for objects that are very close to the camera. However, all objects that i try to focus further away appear blurred. It seems to be a software issue because in some applications I could have an unblurred preview. However, whenever I take the picture, the picture is blurred [!]. In the past, I’ve experienced a similar behavior, but don’t believe rarely, and the blur always disappeared after for example restarting the iPhone or just after sometime however, this time it’s persistent and it’s frustrating. I just purchased a new Apple Watch and for that I updated to iOS 26 now I can’t use my phone for pictures anywhere which makes it quite useless, nowadays. Is there anybody else with this issue? I have tried restarting the phone. I have tried restarting the camera app. I have tried other camera applications which sometimes behave a bit different but none of them gives me an unblurred picture.

Please help me resolve this problem.

You need to have Apple perform diagnostics on your iPhone. It can be done in person at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support and request remote diagnostics.

If you’re in the US please call  1-800-MY-APPLE or outside the US, consult the support articles below. In Canada call 1-800-263-3394

You may have more going on than a software issue. You really should have Apple perform diagnostics on your iPhone. It can be done in person at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support and request remote diagnostics.

To the OP and all those affected...

Leave Apple Feedback:

Do your Part: This seems to be a catching on. Question is: "How many people have let Apple know about this bug?"  Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what bugs are occurring, and what needs to be fixed. Apple will know nothing of you occurrence, if you don’t report it to them.

Giving Feedback:

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment on: When you came across this bug, and how you have troubleshot it thus far. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed From there as necessary

I have the exact same issue with my 12 mini.

i got the strange clicking too but only a couple times with WhatsApp camera. WhatsApp camera doesnt do it as much as core camera app but still unusable.

i downloaded Final Cut Pro which allows you to select which lens it’s using. The 13mm works perfectly.

The issue is only the 26mm.

I have opened a support case with apple and I will push as hard as I can.

the fact that I can no longer roll back to iOS 18 is nuts too me.
